Champion is one of the most famous motor grader manufacturers in the United States . Still, their Champion motor grader division didn't begin until 1993, when Champion purchased the grader division from Budlee Equipment. Later, the Champion graders were purchased by Volvo, and now it has returned to its previous ownership. A grader is a piece of heavy machinery used to level a surface. They are particularly necessary when it comes to leveling, or grading, a road or path prior to construction. In many ways, the grader is the most uniform of all heavy construction equipment. This stems from the fact that almost every motor grader is used for public road maintenance. As a result, Champion, like other manufacturers, caters to its largest client--public works entities. Almost every Champion grader has six tires with a 12 foot adjustable blade situated beneath the cab to push and spread gravel. For more information on grader specs, see Champion Road Machinery. As you might expect, you will rarely see a Champion grader in someone's garage. That is because almost every grader in the market is owned by large companies where they frequently have to build and repair roads. Still, there is the possibility that you are looking into a motor grader to become an independent contractor and provide usage for a fee. These ventures can be extremely profitable offering incredible hourly rates if you find a company that doesn't already own a grader. Champion Grader Renting. On the other hand, there are often instances when you might wish to rent a Champion grader. If that is the case, you can rent a grader daily, weekly, or monthly. The longer you keep a grader the cheaper it costs per day. Rentals average $300-$500/day, $900-$1500/week, and $3000-$6000/month. For rates in your area see Construction Equipment for Rent. Champion Grader Purchasing. If you would like to purchase a Champion grader, the cost will depend on the year. A used Champion grader can cost anywhere between $15,000 and $100,000. For the most complete listing see Construction Equipment. A new Champion grader can cost as much as $200,000. The thing to remember, however, is that the grader industry has changed very little in the last 50 years. In other words, purchasing a used grader can save you a lot of money without sacrificing quality. For the cost individual models, see Champion Road Machinery.
