Soil Stabilizer

Soil stabilizers slice, mix and grind up soil, adding materials as needed to make a more sturdy soil base. Stabilizers are especially useful for preventing wear and erosion on trails and dirt roads. Generally, a soil stabilizer uses a rotary cutter to blend in soil additives down to a certain soil depth. It can also make the soil conform to a desired particle size or aerate it to reduce the level of moisture in the soil. Some earth stabilizers offer distinct cutting depths so that you can adapt their specifications to your particular job. There are also self-propelled and trailer stabilizer models.

An effective dirt stabilizer has a sturdy undercarriage for top reliability. This undercarriage may come with a heavy-duty track roller frame or wheels depending on the model. It may also have several rollers that set the rear idlers directly underneath loads, improving performance. With optional attachments or modifications to your supported undercarriage, stress loads will be lighter and your soil stabilizers will have a longer system life.

Stabilizer Rental. Because earth stabilizers are large and expensive, they are often more practical to rent than own. Unfortunately, finding a place that has a stabilizer to rent can be difficult. Your best bet is by searching for paving equipment at Construction Equipment for Rent or by contacting earth stabilizer manufacturers. Generally, you can rent stabilizers daily, weekly, or monthly depending on your need.

Stabilizer Sales. If you are looking to purchase a dirt stabilizer, its cost will depend on its size, age, features, and manufacturer. A used stabilizer costs between $50,000 and $200,000. See Equipment Road. A new stabilizer can cost as much as $250,000. Stabilizer manufacturers include Caterpillar, Enviroseal, Wirtgen, Bomag, and a few more. For the cost to finance or lease a new stabilizer, contact a dealer near you.
