Wheel Loader

Wheel loaders are the most common kind of loaders. The term loader refers specifically to the scoop, bucket, or shovel extending from the front of the machine used to load loose debris from an excavation site into a dump truck. The wheel loader features a large loader in the front and large wheels to maneuver over rough terrain. Often these loaders feature attachments which can replace the loader itself. Possible attachments include plows, brooms, blades, forks, grapples, rakes, and more.

Because wheeled loaders tend to be large, they are rarely practical for residential use. Still, with the advent of smaller, more compact models, a wheeled loader can be owned by a large construction company or residential constructor alike. One of the most common reasons to purchase a wheeled loader is to become an independent contractor and provide usage for a fee. These ventures can be extremely profitable offering incredible hourly rates if you find contractors that don't already own the same loader.

Wheeled Loader Rental. Still, it is often more practical to rent a loader than own one. If that is the case, you can rent a loader daily, weekly, or monthly depending on your need. The longer you keep a loader, the cheaper it is per day. Depending on the model, a loader rents for $200-$800/day, $900-$2500/week, or $2000-$6000/month. For rates in your area, see Construction Equipment for Rent.

Wheeled Loader Sales. If you are looking to purchase a loader, its cost will depend on the loader's size, age, features, and manufacturer. A used loader can cost anywhere between $3000 and $130,000. See Construction Equipment. A new loader can cost as much as $200,000. Manufacturers include Caterpillar, Volvo, John Deere, JCB, Komatsu, Terex, Moxy, New Holland, Link Belt, Case, Bobcat and more.
